Pagan Podkin Supermoot #2 Updates

2011
03.31

Wanted to give all of you lovely podkin a quick update about the goings-on of the Pagan Podkin Supermoot happening the weekend of September 17th in Salem, Massachusetts. The venue has been set for the meet and greet. We will be using the large meeting space at Omen, a shop run by Christian Day.* While a specific time has not been set, yet, you can now tell your listeners where to go.

The official site of this year’s Supermoot is PaganPodkin.com. All updates will now be running through their, including an itinerary, list of shows attending, a possible message board in the near future, and a host of other Supermoot related fun. It is a webs.com site, so feel free to sign up to receive updates whenever they are made.

Also, please consider this the LAST CALL to let either myself or Velma Nightshade know you would like to be invited to this year’s Supermoot. (IncitingARiotPodcast@gmail.com or Velma@WitchesBrewHaHa.com respectively) It doesn’t mean you have to decide to attend right now, but please let us know if we missed you in the initial feeler invites so we can put you on the OFFICIAL invitation list going out sometime in the next week. If you are not on the official invitation list, and you decide later you want to go, you may miss out on any hotel deals we procure as a group, as well as the sweet Supermoot Swag Bags. And, really, who wants to miss out on Swag?

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Love and Lyte,

Fire Lyte

*Note: Personal issues you may have aside, Omen is the meeting place. Barring some kind of natural disaster it probably won’t be changing. I hope if you have any sort of animosity towards the shop owner, their image, clientele, or employees, that you can be in line with Project Pagan Enough long enough to get through a few hours so you can meet your adoring fans. After all, this is for them, too.

Adding Music To Your Show

2011
03.27

Adding music to a show is one of the simplest things you can do to add professionalism to your show.  However, it is also the most likely element to go disastrously wrong in post-production.  For example, you could inadvertantly create a show where an intro is playing at the same time as the content of your show is playing.

The first step is the most time consuming: find music.  There are many podsafe resources which have been discussed on the PPP podcast as well as listed in our resources for podcasters.

The next couple of steps are post-producing your show’s content and adding the music.  The order of these steps is debatable as both offer advantages.  If you do show notes for the Pagan Podcast Index then adding music first where needed helps keep your timestamps correct if you do show notes during post-production.  Adding music later makes keeping show notes matched to their proper timestamps much more complicated but helps you focus on post-production first before making it pretty with nice music.  Neither technique is wrong, so it is best thought of as a personal preference.

In most music programs, the actual process is very straightforward. Usually you can just drag and drop the music file into the program. The trick is to drag and drop your audio such that content does not
unnecessarily overlap music you do not want to have overlap your content.

A mistake to watch for is when you have stereo tracks to ensure both channels are dragged, not just the left channel or right channel.  For this reason, I often make spoken audio into a mono track to avoid these mistakes.  Failure to double check for this can result in very bad audio.

If you have any questions, feel welcome to post a comment to get feedback from fellow podcasters.
