Also the 21 Lessons of Merlyn by Douglas Monroe, in my opinion, isn’t a good intro to Druidism. Monroe likes to add fact with fiction and for a beginner it’s hard to tell. I bought the book after a fellow Druid gave me a list of Druid books and I found out later that I should’ve avoided Monroe’s book. He has some sexist views on women. And some of the rituals are a bit out there. Also its historically inaccurate which is kinda hard to pin because a lot of Druid history is hard to find. I guess its more of a tongue and cheek type of book, but its more of a book to read for entertainment. I think that The Druid Sourcebook is one of the best most comprehensive ones, also The Apple Branch byAlexei Kondratiev is a good history of the Celtic history. I have a lot of Druid books that I can’t name off the top of my head.

So to sum it up, avoid 21 Lessons of Merlyn, sorry Amber.

The other day I had a Jehovah’s Witness come to one of my registers at work and hand me and my cashier a magazine all about being a Jehovah’s Witness – if I wasn’t working it would have been nice to say something – unfortunately I’m under obligation to smile and wish them on their way.

Ashley, I would have LOVED to see the look on that guys face when you told him you were a Satanist. It would have made me smile.

Here is a topic. Relate different religions to countries during the cold war. For example: Fundamentalist christians could be the USSR because they are trying to convert everyone.

For the weekly topics you should add a book of the week.

Has anyone read Spindrift? I have been wondering what other peoples thoughts are on this book. (sorry i forgot the author of the book).

p.s. I have been getting a certan ‘vision/feeling’ every once in a while and I have been trying to figure out what it means but I have never been able to figure out what it is. Any ideas on how to figure it out? (to oversimplfy the ‘vision’ it kinda ‘looks’ like that windows 95 screensaver “pipes”. I cant really describe the feeling.)

I’ve listened to your podcast for a few months now. Regarding the topic of Wicca, initiation, and lineage I hope I can provide some explanation.

I’m a member of coven, where I have completed my dedication and am preparing for my first degree initiation. I could go online to many places and list the name of my teacher and people would give me the dirt as it is known in the community. I could confirm his claims of training, and the claims of his teachers training.

The coven I’m involved in is a Protean Coven, which has Gardnerian roots. Some Gardnerians call the Proteans family some do not. But it is easy to learn about the split.

There is good Yahoo group for anyone wanting to get involved in British Traditional Wicca. You can run the name of a potential teach past the list moderator and find out if that teacher is blowing smoke up your tailpipe about their own training.

Your comments about Wiccans are often correct, to a point, because there are some Wiccans that have not done any serious work on learning their path, besides buying a book or two and skimming through them.
