Not the fact that a lot of people feel the planets will align. Or aliens are coming. But the fact that most skeptics and historians alike feel that it is going to be a time of change in souls. That we will all re-think out ways and do everything totally different. I have red stories and listened to podcasts and I have heard many opinions on this subject. And nearly all of them lean to the same thing. Not the end but a new beginning. Could this be the time older religions die and the new aged religions flourish? I find the subject and the way it enrages some people fascinating.

I think your guest was off in lumping all reconstructionists together. I have only met a very small handful of SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism) type of folks who actually wanted to go and turn back the clock. Not too many people I know actually, seriously think that going to a Compound and acting like plumbing, medicine and electronics don’t exist is a good idea. The fact is that we live in the Modern age. We have to adapt those old ways to make sense and be relevant to our lives in the here and now. The trick is to figure out how much and what exactly we can bend within the confines of the lore used. That is the big and major difference between ecclectics and/or wiccans and recons. Your guest didn’t solidly address that, at least to my satisfaction. I would be happy to talk about what I do on this far flung branch of the Pagan tree, known as Asatru. Feel free to give out this post and email address.
